Optional reasoning research

Where available, adults who can comfortably read English may choose to share their reasoning tests with us for research. Choosing to share unlocks that report at no charge. Sharing is ongoing: it covers the completed test and future reasoning tests you take until you stop sharing. Shared records include answers, changes to answers, response times, interruption flags, test and app versions, device category and, if you provide them, an age band and prior exposure to the questions. Participation is optional and never required to take a test or buy a report.

These records are coded and linked to your account so that we can honor withdrawal; they are not anonymous. We use them only to evaluate our questions and improve scoring. Findings are published only in aggregate. Research answers are not sent to advertising or session-replay tools, and the test is not a clinical assessment.

Shared research records are kept for up to 24 months from consent, then deleted automatically. Choose Research settings in the app to stop sharing and delete your research data at any time, or delete your account. Reports already unlocked stay yours after withdrawal. Requests made offline finish when your device reconnects. Expired device copies are removed on the next app use. Previously published aggregate summaries cannot remove one person's contribution. Backup copies follow the service's documented recovery retention and deletion-restoration procedures.

The short version: You can start a test without an account. An account lets you save completed reports and access them on supported devices. We use service providers for sign-in, saved results, payments, and product analytics. We do not sell your data.

1. Accounts and test results

Test progress is stored on your device so you can resume. Completed tests and response times may also be sent to our service under a device identifier. When you sign in, completed reports you save are associated with your account, including scores, answers, response times, completion dates, and report purchase status. Sign-in providers process the email address and other account information you choose to provide. The older web pre-quiz may also store an age band and comparison cohort you select.

4. Data retention and deletion

Deleting the App removes local progress but does not delete a saved account. Use Delete account in your account settings on a supported app version to remove your sign-in account and our account-linked saved reports. You can also contact [email protected] for deletion or access requests, including device-only records and analytics records. Payment providers may retain transaction records under their own policies and applicable requirements. Account deletion does not automatically refund a purchase or cancel a subscription.

5. Children

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided account information, contact support so we can address it.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR in Europe, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Contact support for these requests. Account deletion is also available in account settings on supported app versions.

7. Changes

We update this policy when our data practices change. The date above identifies the current version.
